The annual Manly Sailability Thank You to Volunteers & Presentation of Trophies was held on Sunday 16/5/26 at Balgowlah Totem Club – 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
This year , instead of a sit down meal it was decided to make is a more casual affair with chairs around the room & a few tables in the centre of the room for beautiful finger food served on platters. This made the function better for all as attendees were able to move about the room & talk to whoever they wished.
Warwick McKenzie was the MC & he welcomed all volunteers & a few sailing participants for their attendance & talk a little about the 30yrs that Manly Sailability has been in operation with many thanks to Eli Demeny for having the eye sight for the future & being a founding member.
Food platters – both cold and hot – were served throughout the afternoon. There was plenty so nobody should have gone home hungry.
It was great to see Elizabeth Macpherson and her carer, and Andrew Foster and family – both are disabled members of Manly Sailability.
Guy Evatt & Dany Rostron (both new volunteer members of Manly Sailability) gave a great talks on the reasons they joined M.S & what they enjoy about volunteering.
Eli Demeny presented the following trophies:
Best Sailor: Jeremy Tebbutt
Wayne Black Best in Regattas Skipper: Denis Linney
Wayne Black Best in Regattas crew: Nola Borgelt
Most Improved Sailor: Andrew Foster
Volunteer of the Year Award: John Weaver – well deserved – as he writes & distributes Signals each month; manages the regattas and volunteer training; and is a member of the Committee.
Lucky Door prises went to Caroline Holdstock (white wine), Guy Evatt (red wine) and Robert Del Pizo (a bag of cashews).
A great afternoon was had by all.
