The day started well and concluded with no incidents to report, which is always our primary objective.
It was also lovely that Warwick was able to spend the day with his son in law celebrating his birthday. I’m glad he could take that time with family.
Firstly, I would like to sincerely thank Warwick for trusting me with the responsibility of Coordinator for the day. I greatly appreciate the opportunity and trust placed in me, and I hope I upheld the high standards that Warwick consistently sets for Sailability.
A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who attended today, what a fabulous support team. We had approximately 15 volunteers present, and the professionalism, warmth, and willingness to assist were evident throughout the day.
Although three clients were booked in for today, only one client attended.
Operationally, we had four sailing boats on the water, along with the tender , Charlie Chariot, ensuring full support coverage and safety oversight throughout the day.
Weather conditions were favourable, with the wind blowing from the east-southeast at approximately 6–8 knots, providing steady and manageable sailing conditions.
The lighter schedule allowed volunteers valuable sailing time and the opportunity to connect with one another, build rapport, and refine on-water procedures in a relaxed and supportive environment. These moments strengthen our team dynamic and confidence on the water.
With one client sailing, we were able to:
– Provide focused one-on-one support
– Conduct thorough safety checks and boat preparation
– Offer volunteers additional sailing practice
– Reinforce communication between shore crew and on-water support
At the conclusion of the day, all watercraft and equipment were returned to the storage facility. The internal configuration of stored items has changed slightly; however, all equipment appears to be safely and securely stowed away and shipshape.
