What a perfect sailing day – bright, and sunny with a light breeze and rippled water.
An enthusiastic team of 17 volunteers had all 5 boats (later 6) rigged ready for sailing, before the sailing day coordinator, arrived to make 18. Thanks also to John Weaver, Brian and Warwick for repairing boats on Monday in readiness for the day.
We began with a quick refresher by Warwick to our assembled team on the pontoon on securing boats and in the use of slings for hoisting less mobile sailors.
Thanks to Wilma registering visitors, Corey directing boats on the radio, various team members fitting life jackets and escorting participants to and from the pontoon, well managed by Malcolm, Brian, Eli and company, participants experienced smooth crew changes.
Jennie and Petra set sail early to practice for Saturday’s regatta before our day’s participants began to arrive, while Ivan took off for a long sail in Cleo.
After a slow start 15 visitors from Sunnyfield , Royal Rehabilitation, Catholic Care together with several independent participants enjoyed sailing with skippers Denis in Woody, Jon in Eli D, Michael in Dolly Wallis, Jennie in Alexander Martin, Jim in Vin, Jeremy in Ralph Newman, and time on board Charlies Chariot with Warwick and Ken.
Another successful sailing day enjoyed by all, our wonderful volunteers had our boats and equipment packed away quickly. Thank you everyone for providing another fun day for many.
