What looked like rain on the first Sailing Day of 2026 it turned out to be fine with light winds giving everyone who attended an enjoyable day.
Robert our new volunteer with Tim and Peter our newer volunteers all joined in 15 volunteers in all to rigg 5 boats ready for our participant sailors. Corey took control of the radio, Micheal M, Steve, Cate, Tim, Robert, and Peter handled the comings and goings on the Pontoon.
Warwick, skipper and Ken our excellent photographer on Charlie’s Chariot gave several sailors from CMCare a thrilling ride. They all said that had a wonderful time out on the harbour, so much so Craig, Sophia, Oscar, Kyle and Rachel all chose the go for a sail in the Hansa’s as well, which really made their day.
John W, Jim, Micheal B, Skye and Denis skippered the Hansas, Ros and Nola fitted life jackets and organized sailing turns. Elizabeth was not phased by the possible rain arrived to have a long sail in ideal weather. Will enjoyed his sail getting very wet splashing water as part of his sailing experience. Helen Hendry Hansa had a little mishap in the way back into dock which was rectified by Denis and John ready for the next sailing day.
There was time today for our newer volunteers to get a sail in the Hansa’s and pick up some new sailing skills.
Thank you to all the volunteers, carers and 11 participant sailors who made it an enjoyable first sailing day of the year.
