A busy day sailing on this mixed weather day. The early morning was English drizzle, followed by the very calm doldrums, followed by menacing storm clouds, a minuscule sprinkle of rain and a decent few puffs of wind which gave for some satisfying sailing in the late morning.
Rigging took a little longer than usual as the boats had been loaned to Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club for the world championships. Bits and pieces on some boats needed sorting out, and everyone pitched in to give a hand.
25 customers and the very light conditions made for a very busy morning, slightly short handed for volunteers – but time flew as we were all so busy. Cory did a great job, as usual, on the radio, keeping tabs on boats, and communicating with Warwick on Charlie’s Chariot. A few tows were required to get boats back to the dock to ensure everyone had a sail!
Also , Warwick dropped the keys to C.C. into the dinghy while putting C.C. back on the mooring but forgot to tie the painter of the of the dinghy to C. C. . Then realised the dinghy had floated away . He then had to radio John Weaver who was sailing in Black Swan to help & retrieve the dinghy . All done , then Warwick was able to row back to MYC. Lesson to all , remember to secure the dinghy to C.C. or at least don’t drop the keys of C.C. in the dinghy , put them in your pocket.
Thanks for a great day everyone!
