This Saturday 28/09, the Sailability session started at 9am with all volunteers and yours truly Sailing Day Coordinator being right on time. A nice crew of 14 people. The weather was sunnier and warmer than expected. We had 10 clients on the list so we put 5 boats out ensuring we had enough skippers to take everyone out in a timely fashion. It was nice to reconnect with long term volunteer Caroline Holdstock. We chatted away while keeping track of the boats’ movements. Nola and Steve were the steady hands on the pontoon and Wilma manned the desk dutifully.
Warwick was on Charlie’s Chariot with Ken and Sophie. She drove the boat for a while until David Webb took over from Warwick. She had then a turn on Eli D with Skye.
John Weaver had a nice sail with his grand-daughter Gigi, they obviously share a love of the water. Recent volunteer Justine had an extended training session with Denis, we look forward to seeing her at the helm!
Shane with Skye in Eli D and Gracie with David Webb in Alex Martin were first off going sailing with a pretty good wind. Then Jay with Michael in Black Swan and Vanessa with John in Vin.
A group from Luz All Abilities arrived a bit later. Chris with John, Daniel with Michael and Yashi with Denis had a go at sailing while Anna went on Charlie’s Chariot with her carer Fernanda. The wind had dropped by then and it was slow coming back to the pontoon. Just around 11AM a shower came and prompted everyone to retreat. The sailing ended at 11:30AM and we were all packed up by midday. It was a nice day as Sailability days are. Thank you everyone for your contribution.
