Extracting a fine couple of hours in our current rain event has not been easy, but the clouds cleared, the breeze settled into a beautiful 5 to 7 knot south westerly, the sun came out, and we settled into a perfect Regatta morning.
Our Support Boat doubled as a Start boat with crew: driver, Vince; Race Officer, John; in charge of buoys, Michael S; photographer, Irene. They all took off to lay the perfect course on Manly Cove.
The rest of the team rigged and launched the boats, then filled with their crews:
Woody: Denis and Ivan,
Black Swan, Jackie and Caroline,
Eli D, Michael B and Joe,
Ralph Newman, Ollie and Sophie,
Vin, Jeremy and Nola,
Dolly Wallis, Ben and Warwick.
We had time for 2 races and their results combined.
Vin with Jeremy and Nola came first.
Black Swan with Caroline and Jackie came second.
Woody with Denis and Ivan came third.
Ralph Newman with Ollie and Sophie came a very close 4th after having been forced into a 360.
Also 4th were Dolly Wallis with Ben and Warwick.
And the wooden spoon goes this time to Eli D with Michael B and Joe.
All came back to the pontoon feeling flushed with success, and full of talk about results, conditions, suggestions for next time, etc, and the packing away was remarkably fast this time.
Then faced with a perfectly cooked sausage sizzle, courtesy of Jessica all the way from Thailand, and a comfortable presentation, we ate a quick lunch with chocolate for dessert, and finished the morning with a Thank You to everyone concerned.
