The day commenced under a cloudy sky with cool temperatures and a slight southerly wind, which fluctuated throughout the day.
Our volunteers quickly set out the four boats deemed to be required for the anticipated seventeen visitors, scheduled to arrive.
Surprisingly, our small group of ten volunteers, led by Warwick, John, Steve, Michael, Corey, David, Gary, Ken, Peter and myself were all ready by 9.30 am and waiting our guests for the day.
We were fortunate to have the opportunity to have a sail before the main arrivals at 10.30 am.
Following our regular pre-sail briefing by Warwick to all the volunteers, we prepared for the day and welcomed our first guests.
From there it was a hectic day in getting all the sailors out for their enjoyment with some enjoying great conditions in the harbour.
Volunteers manned the pontoon and ensured all sailors were comfortably seated in the boats, while our veteran radio operator, Corey, controlled the fleet and ensured all went smoothly for passengers and sailors.
Dolphins were spotted during the day and a few boats needed a quick tow to get through the ferry lanes.
Our regular sailors were treated to a great day on the water and as usual, included Grace, Mathew, Michael, with several enjoying time in Charlie’s Chariot with Warwick and Ken, who as always provided the wonderful photography found in all our reports and in Signals, prepared very professionally by John Weaver.
After an easy-going day’s sailing for all participants, mixed with the necessary paddling by skippers to reach the pontoon, our wonderful crew managed to pack our boats and gear away by 12.30 pm. Thanks again to our enthusiastic and dedicated team of sailors and volunteers.
