It was a truly beautiful evening when 44 excited people arrived at Manly Yacht Club at the other end of the day from our usual routine. The sun had set, the lights were on, including new Fairy Lights courtesy of Manly Yacht Club. The purpose was to celebrate the 21st Birthday of Sailability Manly along with our annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner.
We were pleased to welcome Michael Regan from Northern Beaches Council, and his lovely wife, Bronwen, as well as Carey Budd, Maz and Graeme from Manly Yacht Club and as many volunteers as we could fit to make the evening a most worthwhile one. Lovely food from Brazilian Barbecue, and a noisy, large contingent of our volunteers, as well as a couple of carers and participants in our sailing made the evening a huge success. It was lovely to welcome back some of our earliest Volunteers, as well as welcome some of the newest people.
A Special Certificate to acknowledge the extreme efforts of Warwick McKenzie was awarded. Jackie, our MC for the evening also acknowledged the efforts of some of our volunteers in her usual light hearted manner, to the great amusement of the gathered guests.
Ken was there with his camera to record the evening. Everyone had a great time, enjoying the food, the atmosphere and the companionship of friends, normally met up with in a totally different setting. It was agreed that we will probably all be there again in May 2018 to continue our great story.
