Thanks goodness for a cooler day today. The sky was heavy and overcast, and the wind quite light, making it a pleasant task to put the boats out.
Volunteers today were:
Warwick, Corey, John P, John B, Helen, Wilma, Jim, David G and David W, Allison, Sheila, John W, Denis, Ken, Ivan, Ros, Michael and Helene. We spread the jobs around, each taking a turn at everything, so that we always had 6 sailors on the water, a Support Boat Driver and observer, a person on the radio, usually Wilma helping with life-jackets, and a variety of Registrars. It put a different focus on things, and was a little more relaxed than usual.
We had 3 lovely groups in, starting with our Royal Far West Students: Malayla, Aiden, Kristie, Lachlan and Rebecca. These 5 went off for a sail while our very large group from Truscott St arrived, first of all in singles, then in a rush. Liam was there with his Mum, then Syle, Zara, Tyson, Harry, Maria-Carmela, Tom, Ruby, Maggie, Riarna, Ethan, Sam, Jazmine, Sion, Ricky, Jessica, Annabelle, Manu, Yu-Yu, 19 in all with helpers, parents, Grandma’s, etc, a very large group on the deck.
In the meantime, Connor and Ruby came with their teacher, Michelle from Forest High, Travis with his helper, Mark, then last of all: Waitara Wonders, who showed wonderful patience arrived with helper, Bianca. Needless to say, everyone had a beautiful, smooth sail, some with a tow back to the pontoon, and came back with the hugest of grins.
