A beautiful day on the water at Sailability Manly. Our very keen crew put out enough 303’s and the 2.3 that we needed for the people who were going to come sailing with us today.
Just a limited team was needed, Tony, Denis, Ivan, Lyn, Ken, Jannie, Jim, Michael, Helen, Helene, Kate, David, John and Vince, as we were not expecting many participants. Of course, because of the beauty of the day, a few extras turned up.
Daniel started with a quick spin on Charlie’s Chariot before his sail. Eddy, Juliet, and Judy, who had won a prize at the regatta on Australia Day went off for a sail, then Diane and her soul sister Jackie took off for their sail. Tess and Duncan had their turn a little later, after a period of getting used to the atmosphere.
Ollie was the next to go, then Richard arrived. Off he went, solo in Clea, as if he was born to it. It seemed that that smile stretched way across his face, and to the back of his head when he managed to get completely soaked through, sailing across Manly Cove at great speed. His Mum, sitting on the side was bursting with pride to see him achieving this. He discovered that it is easy to cross to the other side, not so easy to come back, so needed a tow to bring him home.
Hannah and Sam were next, then young Stevo took off across the bay with his sailor friend.
Last to arrive were Jack, Joshua, Bradley, Lola and Lawson from Creativity Inc. They were lucky to get a sail in, and a sausage to eat as they arrived a little later than expected. Next time, a different route and an earlier start off may be in order.
Unfortunately, we were late to finish and were extremely thankful that sailors from the Lasers and Manly Juniors and their parents helped us to put away all the gear. Thanks, people, we all learnt a little about cooperation today.
