How perfect was today? A little cloud to start opened up into a beautiful day, cool enough to bring out the beanies and jackets and warm enough to enjoy the sunshine socialising under the umbrellas.
Crosbie was a wonderful Sailing Coordinator, managing the right number of boats with Pontoon Coordinator Extraordinaire, Kevin. Denis was the Boat Operations Manager, enabling all of the boats to go out perfectly rigged and safe. Vince was the learner driver in Charlie’s Chariot, under the expert eye of Peter with Juliet and Ken as observers. Michael did an expert job of pumping up all of the tyres on the trolleys, before himself hopping into a boat and sailing with a few participants. Sailors this morning were: The wonderful Hugh, from Manly Juniors, who loves the Saturdays in Winter, so that he can come down to Sailability to help with the sailing; as well as David, escort to Patrick, Ivan, Denis, Michael, Cathy, Crosbie. Helpers on the pontoon were Jay and Tony, up on deck were our Life-jacket Manager, Wilma, Registrar Lyn, Time-Keeper Ray, and later on Driss and Jawad came down to give us a hand. Juliette did her terrific job of being the chef, a difficult job today as Helen was not around.
A feature of today were our new participants and their carers and families. Richard and his mum, Angel and her Mum, Lennie; James and Mum, Leeann, as well as sister Jessie. Back from her holiday in Spain were Juliet and her Mum Vicki, Ollie, Judy, Matthew, Kerrie, Ashley, Anna, Grant, Robert, Susan, Ben, and Alyssa.
It was such a relaxed and unrushed day, that everyone present mentioned the calm atmosphere, and the ease with which everything was accomplished. In my opinion, it was because everyone jumped in and helped, and the weather helped as well.
