Saturday’s Sailability event was a fantastic day on the water, with sailors and volunteers coming together for an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
The wind started off light in the morning, with clear skies and flat waters, ideal conditions for a morning sail. As expected, the wind picked up around 11, providing perfect sailing conditions for the sailors. The moderate conditions made for an ideal sailing day, striking the perfect balance between relaxation and exhilaration.
We had six boats out on the water and were originally booked for 25 participants; however, it ended up being less busy with 14 participants showing up, allowing us to finish nice and early.
The tide was low and the water was crystal clear, after a lucky spot, we were fortunate to see an octopus in the seagrass, surrounded by little fish. The participants were delighted by the sealife and loved trying to spot other animals like stingrays.
Participant, Dick, went out for a nice sail at the start of the day, while his wife sailed with Jeremy on Ralph Newman, officially becoming an approved sail, she can sail solo with her husband next session. After a morning of promising “a sail later on when it cools off” Jay’s hopes were squashed. He braved the stunning sun and perfect seas for a lovely sail with Rob.
A huge thank you to all the volunteers, organizers, and participants who made the day so enjoyable. We look forward to another great sailing day soon!
