We were blessed with a beautiful sunny morning and a good sailing breeze.
Volunteers arrived early to get the gear out and boats in the water by 9.00am. We only had 5 boats available (2 requiring new parts & couldn’t be used). This morning we also gained two new volunteers – Karen from Canada, who only inquired about Sailability on Friday; and Joe who was just passing and decided to join up immediately and paid his membership. Joe is a past sailor and Karen is eager to learn. They were taken for a sail. There were 5 others, so they were also taken Sailing. Michael & Joe were our experienced pontoon volunteers. David Webb and his wife Marg arrived and David had the parts so immediately fixed one of the Hanzas.
Peter B started out with the timekeeping and radios and then took his grandson sailing. Clare took over this important job of timekeeping and radio. Well done to both.
John W was a busy sailor taking grandchildren out sailing. Jeremy and James were keen doing many volunteer activities. Also James armed a few young participants with water guns, resulting in a few people getting wet – all good fun.
Sophie was also a busy sailor giving her cousins a great sail and also a skipper on Charlie’s Chariot with her cousins again.
Caroline returned to volunteering and skippered Charlie’s Chariot with Ken the observer & photographer.
Vince also skippered Charlie’s Chariot after taking various participants sailing.
Denis and Michael B also were a keen sailors.
David Webb took his wife Marg on a romantic sail around Manly Cove, and Eli and Ivon also enjoyed a joint sail.
Skye took a few participants out on Manly Cove sailing and Michael took Ros (volunteer) sailing.
Petra’s family, Justine’s family and Lena’s family also enjoyed the sailing and rides in Charlie’s Chariot.
Wilma did a fine job on the register desk. It was great to see Jackie Morgan back at volunteering but unfortunately she has a body with many aches and pains – hopefully this will get sorted out soon.
Many, many thanks to Wilma, Nola and Eli for supplying beautiful sandwiches, fruit platters, drinks, tea, coffee and biscuits for morning tea and especially lunch.
A great day was had by all.
