A great dress-up day of sailing planned for ASPECT School students turned into a great day for Fisher Rd, Royal Far West and Sunshine Pymble as all of our groups got into the mood.
Our crew got into the act as well, with Helen dressing up as the Pirate King, and everyone donning, hats, pirate kerchiefs or bandanas and getting into a HO HO HO mood.
Team on duty today was:
John , Denis, Ray, Jay, Steve, David, Ivan, Mark, Bob, Corey, Jim G, Ros, Ken, Jim Y, Allison, Tony, Warwick, Michael, Malcolm and Eli. Everyone dived into their chosen job, swapping around when they felt the urge, and generally had an enjoyable morning. In the beautiful weather that was specially ordered for the day, we had warm breezes from the North and North West, around the 7 knot mark for most of the morning. First group to sail were Royal Far West, from country NSW, brought down by teacher, Craig.
Luckily, we had 2 expert Laser sailors from Yamba in Connor and Lachlan showing off their skills in the light winds, along with some help needed for Brendon, Cherie, Maddie, Lucy, Merridy, Anna and Dustin. All embraced the mood of a Pirate day, donning the dress ups, and shouting Pirate slogans across the water.
Eddie, James, Kyle, Alexsandra, Jasper and Dylan came with their teacher, Rebecca, and hopped into boats as they became vacant.
Then Sarah and Genevieve arrived with the ASPECT Boys, fully in costume, bright, sparkling, and full of Pirate Language. What pleasure all of the sailors received from these young boys with their big smiles: Oscar, Callum, Ashley, Archie, Ryan, Alexander, Koby, Ollie, Leo, Tristan and Christian. Helen was rivalled for position of Pirate King, when Callum arrived in full costume.
Later in the morning, Margie, Rob S and Robbie W, Brad, Barry and Allan arrived with Sunil, Liz and Gary. The wind was starting to rise by then, so it seemed a good time to get the boats away, with everyone helping to get it all done quickly.
