As a safety measure, we have determined the area shaded in the diagram below is where we sail. It is now a strict rule of our Club that these boundaries always be adhered to. Our Safety Boats will ensure that our sailors don't stray where they shouldn't be.

We remind our sailors that the Sydney Ferries and commercial vessels have right-of-way and that we are to keep well clear of them and Manly Wharf. NSW Maritime polices the Water Traffic Regulations, and the penalty for impeding a ferry or commercial vessel is up to $1500.

SAILABILITY MANLY SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. ALWAYS KEEP A GOOD LOOKOUT
  2. SAIL IN DESIGNATED SAILING AREA ONLY
  3. KEEP 70 METRES - 1 FERRY LENGTH - OFF FERRY WHARF
  4. DO NOT CROSS AHEAD OF APPROACHING OR DEPARTING FERRRY.
  5. KEEP AT LEAST 50 METRES FROM THE SIDE OR STERN OF A FERRY.
  6. WHEN ON COLLISION COURSE WITH FERRY - OR OTHER VESSEL - 
    ALWAYS LET YOUR INTENTIONS CLEARLY KNOWN TO THE OTHER VESSEL AND IN GOOD TIME.
  7. A RED FLAG FLOWN FROM RESCUE BOAT MEANS:- "PROCEED DIRECTLY BACK TO THE PONTOON".

Sailing area in a clockwise direction, from Manly Yacht Club to Manly Point then over to Reef Beach, along to Forty Baskets then back to Ocean World and back to the Manly yacht Club.
